Embrace the world just as it is. – Pema Chodron, 2012
I request that you take seriously Pema Chodron’s description that an essential choice that confronts us all is whether to cling to the false security of fixed ideas and tribal views even though they bring us only momentary satisfaction, or to overcome our fear and make the leap to living an authentic life. Embracing the world just as it is and choosing an authentic life provides us with substantial goodness, joy, and peace throughout our days and nights I believe.
Peter G. Ossorio (2013, p. 2), my mentor, offered us the following four slogans that are apt for saying what we live by:
- The world makes sense, and so do people. They make sense now.
- It’s one world. Everything fits together. Everything is related to everything else.
- Things are what they are and not something else instead.
- Don’t count on the world being simpler than it has to be.
